Prerequisites and permissions
Have ready
- The Building Calculators feature must be enabled for the business.
- Owner access or Office Staff permission to view Building Calculators is required to read saved sheets.
- Permission to manage Building Calculators plus the target Estimate or Quote permissions is required for saving and insertion.
Access rules
- Owners can use Building Calculators when the module is enabled.
- Office Staff need explicit permission to view or manage Building Calculators.
- Draft insertion separately rechecks the current target permissions, access, state and version.

Walkthrough
Step by step
- 01
Choose the recorded formula
Read the formula expression, required units, rounding rule and limitations. Enter measured values rather than asking Nenvik to infer site, product or compliance facts.

Review the local result
Confirm dimensions, openings, product coverage, waste, pack size and manufacturer instructions. A calculated result is assistance only and does not change a commercial record.

Add the reviewed preview to the sheet
Choose Add to sheet for every result you want to preserve. Draft calculator inputs are working values only; the final save validates and writes the calculations listed in the saved-sheet section.

Save connected evidence
When online, save the sheet. Nenvik rechecks the Company measurement system, currency, tax default, formula version, role and access settings, then writes a saved, read-only revision.

Handle a conflict explicitly
If the saved sheet changed, reload the latest version. Nenvik does not silently merge stale revisions or append a duplicate result.

Insert only after review
Choose one output and one exact current Job Estimate Draft or Quote Draft. Confirm description, price and tax treatment. The target service recalculates totals and records where the result came from when it saves.

Publish through the target workflow
Inserting a calculation result never publishes, sends, accepts, invoices, orders, records actual cost or records payment. Continue through the Estimate or Quote workflow only when the commercial document is ready.

Offline calculation
The versioned formula package may run locally and an unsaved result may remain a protected local draft. It is not a Nenvik server record.
Connected-only changes
Save, update, archive and Estimate/Quote Draft insertion require a current connection and fresh server authorization.
Troubleshooting
If something does not look right
Building Calculators are missing from the menu.
Ask an Owner to confirm Building Calculators access and your view permission. The menu hides fail-closed when availability cannot be confirmed.
The sheet says the record changed.
Reload the latest saved revision, compare it with any protected local draft, then submit a new intent with a new operation and idempotency identity.
The sheet asks for a valid saved calculation.
Review the Calculations in this sheet list. Add the current preview, or edit or remove any entry that no longer matches the current formula and unit rules, then save again.
A Quote or Estimate does not appear as an insertion target.
Confirm the record is still a current Draft and that you hold the separate Quote or Job-cost permissions. Published or superseded records are not eligible.
A saved result cannot be inserted.
Recheck the source revision, target version, output, decimal limits, price and tax mode. Do not create a duplicate target to bypass the conflict.
