What your trade business website needs to bring in local enquiries

Your website does not need to be fancy. It needs to show the work you do, where you do it, and make it easy for the right customer to get in touch.

Winning work6 min read

When someone needs a plumber, electrician, cleaner or landscaper, they usually search on their phone, open two or three websites and contact the one that looks trustworthy and easy to deal with. Your website's job is to win that short moment.

The basics that matter most

  • Say clearly what you do and where, near the top of the home page.
  • Show your phone number and a way to request a quote on every page.
  • Make it fast and easy to read on a phone.
  • Use real photos of your work wherever you can.
  • Show your business name and details consistently so customers know who they are dealing with.

Give each service and area its own page

A single page that lists everything you do is hard to rank and hard to read. Separate pages for your main services, such as blocked drains or switchboard upgrades, and for the suburbs or regions you cover help both customers and search engines understand exactly what you offer. Each page should answer the questions customers ask: what is involved, how long it takes, what affects the price and how to book.

Build trust before the first phone call

Customers are letting you into their home or business. Help them feel comfortable: introduce the team, show recent projects, explain how you handle quotes and payments, and display genuine customer reviews if you have them. Never invent reviews or results; it only takes one customer to notice.

Make enquiries easy, and capture the right details

A good quote request form asks for contact details first, then the service, the address and a short description. Asking for photos or the best time to call saves a round of back-and-forth. Send every enquiry somewhere you will see it quickly, not to an inbox you check once a week.
